The Lahey Clinic Innovation Hub has released its Annual Impact Report for 2025 to 2026, a look at how the Hub's first year built a foundation for innovation at Lahey and where the team is headed next. The report describes how the Hub established the groundwork for a continuous learning health system within the care delivery model, supported by targeted partnerships, structured engagement, and a repeatable approach for moving ideas toward responsible implementation.

Year One at a Glance

The Hub formally launched in June 2025 with AI in Action, a full-day event that gathered more than 180 clinicians, leaders, researchers, innovators, industry partners, and supporters. Since then, the Hub has engaged more than 150 innovators and has 15 projects progressing. Through events, meetings, and workshops, it has also reached more than 50 medical students, more than 30 industry partners, and 25 percent of the clinical workforce.

Three Pillars Guide the Work

Every project supported by the Hub is grounded in three pillars: patient care, workforce wellbeing, and sustainable healthcare. Together they point to one practical question. Will the work improve the experience of patients, strengthen the ability of teams to deliver care, or help build a healthcare system that can meet the needs of the community in the future?

Projects Behind the Results

The report highlights seven case studies from the past year. With MassRobotics as a key partner, the Hub led the evaluation and implementation of the ALTA Platform from Able Innovations, making Lahey the first hospital in the United States to deploy autonomous robotic patient transfer technology. In partnership with Northeastern University, the Hub launched Massachusetts' first registered AI healthcare apprenticeship.

The inaugural Care-AI-thon, held with the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, produced five AI-enabled pilots and supports plans for a mobile cancer screening unit. The Hub also partnered with UMass Chan-Lahey medical students through LEAD@Lahey to support the Hospital at Home program, co-organized two Medtech Sustainability Forums with the ACTION Innovation Network, and became a Digital Health Sandbox partner with the Massachusetts eHealth Institute, where its nursing technology collaboration was selected as a finalist.

Looking Ahead to 2027

In the coming year, the Hub will focus on three areas: genomics and precision oncology, digital surgery, and women's health. In collaboration with Dartmouth Health, Lahey is developing a model to make exome and transcriptome sequencing routinely available for selected cancer patients. Upcoming programming includes a Women's Health Program launch and symposium in October 2026, a Lung Bus event in November 2026, and a Digital Surgery Symposium in February 2027.

The Hub will also continue building an AI-ready workforce through its new AI Champions initiative, and the next Care-AI-thon in May 2027 will be dedicated to cardiovascular care.

The Hub invites partners to help co-develop and pilot new solutions in real clinical settings and to support the growth of scalable innovation programs. To learn more, visit the Innovation Hub's Collaborate page.
