Sarju Ganatra, Medical Director of Sustainability at Lahey Clinic and President and Director of Sustain Health Solutions, joined a panel on healthcare sustainability alongside representatives from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Polycarbin, RT MicroDx, and Phiex Technologies. The session examined how healthcare organizations can adopt innovative solutions and expert guidance to promote sustainable practices across clinical operations.
The forum opened with remarks from Carla Reimold, Executive Vice President of Scientific Innovation and Strategic Investments at the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, and Rachel Robinson, Chief Operating Officer of MassMedic. Discussion throughout the morning centered on the Commonwealth's legislative policies on waste reduction and the circular economy, with particular attention to plastics and packaging, materials that generate significant waste across healthcare and medtech but often lack standardized tracking and reporting.
Panelists and speakers, including representatives from MassRecycle, Clef Advisory, and Resource Recycling Systems, discussed how structured, data-driven strategies can help healthcare organizations measure and act on their environmental footprint without compromising patient care or financial stability.
