Dr. Alessandro Cancelliere MD, PhD

Born in Matera, Italy and raised in Turin and Milan. I became very interested in healthcare as I began my career as a paramedic in the ED at the University of Cincinnati.  I became very interested in neurocritical care and attended graduate school to study gene expression profiling in neurogenesis and neuroprotection after brain injury.  I completed an MD/PhD program at the University of Cincinnati and trained at the Harvard Affiliated- Emergency Medicine Residency at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.  My current aim is to help establish a solid research collaboration between our Emergency Medicine discipline and Neurology to help develop evidence-based and quality care for our neurocritical care patients.    

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and getting lost in foreign countries. Salute!
