How to Apply

The Emergency Medicine Residency at Lahey Clinic is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Our program is four years in length, affiliated with UMass Chan Lahey Medical School and hosts 6 residents per class. 

We participate in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP), and our resident positions are available only through the NRMP. Any questions you may have should be directed to the NRMP (202-828-0676). Our NRMP program code is 3130110C0.

Examination & Eligibility Criteria

USMLE / COMLEX Requirements

  • Step 1 / Level 1: Must be passed on the first attempt.
  • Step 2 CK / Level 2 CE: A passing score must be uploaded to ResidencyCAS before the rank order list is finalized. We look holistically at applicants and do not enforce a strict numerical score cutoff.

International Medical Graduates (IMGs)

  • ECFMG Certification: Applicants must be eligible for an ECFMG Status Report to be transmitted via ResidencyCAS at the time of application.
  • US Clinical Experience: A minimum of 2 months of hands-on United States clinical experience is preferred, with a strong recommendation for at least one EM rotation yielding a SLOE.
  • Visa Sponsorship: Lahey Clinic sponsors J-1 visas only
