Dr. Amit Boukai is an Emergency and Disaster Medicine Physician who recently completed her Fellowship in Disaster Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School. Born in Indianapolis, and raised in both the US and Israel, after graduating from Indiana University, Amit earned an MPH in Emergency and Disaster Management at Tel Aviv University and her medical degree from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. 

Amit completed her Emergency Medicine residency at Aventura Hospital & Medical Center in Miami, where she served as Chief Resident. In that role, she mentored and oversaw the resident and medical student rotations, helped run simulation cases and training, established the program’s DEI committee and worked to improve the program’s EMS and disaster preparedness education. Throughout her education and training, Amit participated in global health and disaster relief initiatives in Israel, Ghana, Kenya, and Louisiana. 

Amit works alongside her Lahey Clinic physician and nursing colleagues in promoting the department’s Hang Hygiene initiatives and advancing Lahey disaster and MCI preparedness measures and efforts. Her professional and research interests lie at the intersection of disaster medicine, global health, and foreign public policy, with a particular passion and research interest in Counter-Terrorism Medicine and the impact of foreign affairs on disaster preparedness and response efforts worldwide. Amit also hopes to one day explore further the overlap between disaster medicine and the emerging field of space medicine. 

In her free time, Amit likes to read, travel and explore, hike, play racket sports, poker and board games, trivia, collect vinyl records, attend concerts and watch the latest sci-fi shows or movies.
